History of PRC

Since 1984, Pregnancy Resource Centers of Greater Portland (PRC) has helped more than 200,000 women of all ages who were unprepared for pregnancy or faced a potential pregnancy. We helped meet the educational, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of these women enabling them to make an informed decision regarding the life of their unborn child and the impact of their personal choices. PRC began with one employee and a handful of volunteers. We now operate five centers throughout the Portland Metro area and serve approximatly 10,700 clients, which of those 6,200 are new to our centers.

PRC began providing limited ultrasounds to clients in 2001. This year, over 1,500 women will see their baby for the first time via ultrasound and over 94% of them will choose life.

In 1988 PRC began providing education about abstinence until marriage at the request of public schools. Currently, The Reality Project presenters teach sexual integrity to over 8,000 students among 20 high schools annually.

PRC’s abortion recovery ministry, HEART (Healing Encouragement for Abortion Related Trauma) was also launched in 1988. Hundreds of women and men have experienced freedom from their painful past abortion decisions through HEART.
